Fill-Rite Transfer pumps have many common problems that can be alleviated just by performing a few simple steps. Rather than having to spend hundreds of dollars on having a technician such as myself come out to fix a minor issue, try some of the following steps first:

  1. Check and make sure there is fuel in the tank.

    1. This should be a no brainer but I have seen this more than once...

  2. Check and make sure there is power going to the Fill-Rite pump.

    1. When doing this always verify that the pump is turned off before you turn the power on you do not want to burn out the motor.

  3. Check and make sure that the pump is primed.

    1. This can be accomplished by opening the cover on the back-side of the pump where the impeller is located (DO NOT REMOVE THE IMPELLER).

    2. Pour some oil into the housing and reattach the cover.

If these steps do not work then it is time to call a technician. Or if you have the money and technical background you can troubleshoot and/or replace the pump yourself.

Best luck out there,

James
